About Ron
Ron’s journey begins in the rugged beauty of what is now Flint River State Park in southeast Iowa. He grew up in a 170‑year‑old stone house built into a hillside, looking out at a 125‑foot cliff rising above the Flint River. His childhood unfolded in wild places, shaped by hard lessons, deep curiosity, and the quiet wisdom of nature.
As a boy, Ron explored every inch of the land around him. He climbed cliffs, crawled through caves, dove from river rocks, and learned to hunt, trap, and forage with the instincts of a young frontiersman. Nature challenged him early — and in doing so, shaped the storyteller he would one day become.
Nature didn’t just shape him — it forged him.
His school years were spent in a one‑room stone schoolhouse under the steady guidance of Mrs. Henry, a teacher whose blend of discipline and warmth helped build his character. After graduating from Burlington High School, Ron served in the Navy during the Vietnam era, then earned a master’s degree in engineering from the University of South Florida.
For thirty‑eight years, Ron worked with Procter & Gamble, traveling the world more than thirty times and gathering stories from every corner of it.
Through all of life’s chapters, he has remained happily married for more than fifty years. His three children have built successful lives of their own, and his grandchildren have all graduated — a legacy he holds close to his heart.
With the encouragement — and good‑natured patience — of his wife, Ron eventually embraced his lifelong passion: storytelling. Today, he blends real‑world adventure with a spark of imagination, crafting tales where memory and myth intertwine.
In the storytelling world, Ron has become what the trade calls a Cozy writer. His heroes and heroines may get bruised, battered, and tested, but they always rise to face the next challenge. His stories invite readers into a world shaped by nature, curiosity, and a lifetime of extraordinary experiences.
