Alex Evercrest arrives in Hawaii determined to rest, recover, and finally breathe.

She splurges and rents a stunning home built directly on the black lava, its private beach carved into the shoreline.

The moment she sees it, she falls in love.

She rents a red convertible Jaguar, ready for sunsets, quiet mornings, and a vacation without danger.

But Alex’s fame reaches the islands before she does.
Her Chief had asked Johnny to create a video showcasing their department for a national police seminar.

Johnny included a brief clip of everyone and then featured Alex.

The Maui Detective Chief, a sharp and seasoned leader, attended the seminar, bought the video.

She then showed it to her team.

One detective recognizes Alex excitedly shouts that she’d seen her on the beach.
The Maui unit tracks Alex down and pleads for help with a series of cold missing‑person cases.
Matt shakes his head and calls her a trouble magnet, but Alex agrees to assist.

She soon realizes the disappearances follow a chilling full moon lunar pattern.
With Johnny’s help from the mainland, the Maui team narrows the suspects to three former classmates.

Two are quickly ruled out.

The third, a face in an old yearbook, becomes the key.
As the full moon rises again, Alex leads the Maui detectives on a daring rescue at a twin falls on the road to Hanna.

In the final moment, she takes the only shot she can see to stop the killer and save the terrified young woman.

A woman who later rebuilds her life and joins the Hawaiian police academy.

Her new goal is to become a detective herself.
When the case closes,

Alex partners with her parents to buy the lava‑front home she fell in love with

She turns it into a rental retreat that her friends and colleagues quickly fill.
