Saber Scar & Marigold

Saber Scar had returned to visit the place where his name had changed from Rolling Stone and he unwillingly had become Saber Scar.

The attack of a crazed saber tooth tiger had almost ended his life. He survived because of sewing skill, and the care he got from his soul mate.

Marigold, his soul mate, sat next to him.

His most cherished friends with whom he had adventured around the world sat around the celebration fire ring.

The closest to him was Quite Rabbit who twice had put him back together. Her skill at treating him was why he was sitting and enjoying the day.

The first time she had put him back together was at the exact spot where they all sat. She had sewn closed the five saber tigers claw mark across his chest. He ran his hand over the five smooth scars and recalled his later amazement to be alive.

He remembered that concerned look on Marigold’s face when back at the Cave and he finally opened his eyes.

He was amazed that he had survived.

After his recovery, he had traveled with Taelo and the rest of the team to the land of the condor.

Then he had travelled north and crossed the ice bridge and fought the Sky Eyes.

On the return he and Burley Bear had played a big part in rescuing Taelo and his wolf team. It was one of the few times that Taelo needed saving.

On that same trip, he had watched in amazement as Taelo rescued Single Leaf from drowning.

He knew that Single Leaf and Taelo had a ceremonial dinner, when the clans gathered, with the old Weaver who had taught Taelo how to rescue a drowning person. That was the repayment price Taelo put on saving Single Leaf. He smiled at what Taelo specified as the cost of saving her and he had teased Single Leaf about the fact that she had gotten off very easily. Had he saved her she would be cooking a cleaning his hearth for the rest of her life.

He found Taelo looking at him, smiling.

Taelo was the person who inspired him. Taelo had saved his life multiple times and he had shown him how a powerful, self-confident person behaved.

It was a behavior that he had adopted.

He accepted the fact that he would never be a Taelo but he would be the self-confident person that Taelo had grown him to become.

He had now traveled around the world and on the beginning to that trip he had suffered another slash across his chest.

This time it was a giant lion. He had been saved by Feather-in-the-Wind who had used her body as a spear to knock the lion aside.

But the Lion managed to add a fresh set of claw marks across his chest.

Once again he was sure that he had received a fatal blow.

He had opened his eyes to look into Quite Rabbit’s eyes and he knew at that instant that he was going to survive.

However, he drank heavily of the white lightening that Taelo had him drink and it was hours until he once again opened his eyes and looked into Marigold’s worried eyes.

Then after he was able to travel, they had crossed the mighty river where he had fallen off the raft and was about to drown.

He became the second Other to be saved from drowning by Taelo.

He had since attended every ceremonial dinner with the Weaver. It was a very enjoyable dinner that he and Single Leaf prepared together.

Single leaf had teased him about how easily he had gotten off and that she would have had him hunt for her every day until he was old and feeble.

Taelo had laughed and added that both of them would too soon be old and feeble and they should focus on the here and now. They should focus on helping those that needed their help and on making sure that those they helped, helped others.

He next looked at Feather-in-the-Wind and Running Stag. Both of them had been with him when they were attacked by the giant lion. Together they had saved him. They now led the Paradise Elk Clan. They both owed their lives to Taelo and Quiet Rabbit.

Feather-in-the-Wind had been saved by Quiet Rabbit and Busy Bee from being a frozen princess offering to the Condor.

Thank you for reading this far.
