In Taelo and his loyal team journey far to the south, deep into the Andes. He has been warned by Broken Spear the seer of the others that he will face several trials that if he lets his spirit free he will save those closest to him. 

He equips his team with a new weapon and organizes them into a fighting diamond fighting unit. Along the way, they encounter and easily defeat a band of hostile warriors. Their fighting diamond formation easily faced a surprise attack and they counted cue on every attacker and none of the team was injured,.

They traveled on and at the top of the mountain the were welcomed by the Condor Clan. This was a time when the team learned the wonders of a more advanced people, but they were shocked to learn that they would be part of the celebration where a virgin would be led to the peak of the mountain and put in a cave with all the other previous virgins that had been offered to the Condor King. Ask by the brother of the virgin that was to be the offering they secretly rescued, Feather-in-the-Wind took her with them on the way back north. Unknown to any of them she would later become one of the great leaders of her newly adopted clan.

The journey had a second half that took the team North. Where they found the valley where there ancient ancestors had first set up camp in the New World.

Taelo and his cousin Golden Hawk were awarded the Golden Feather as recognition on for their contributions to the Elk Clan.
