The Child's Name

Broken Spear
Long Spear mauled and broken by a giant brown bear survives to become Broken Spear.
He becomes a Seer in the Clan of Others. He is able to talk with the Ancestors and see through the eyes of the Eagle. Through the eyes of the eagle, he watches the naming ceremony as Taelo selects the claw of the eagle.
The eagle plucks the claw from Taelo’s two year old hand.
Broken Spear does not see Taelo and does not know he is a child of the New Ones.
Years later as Broken Spear’s prophecy foretold, the Clan of Others
meet the “the Claw of the eagle.”
Broken Spear then becomes Taelo’s guide and mentor.
