Synopsis of the Stories in the Door series

The Door

The new President has a vision of opening up the solar system to extensive exploration.

A young woman and two young men graduating at the top of their college classes are devasted by learning they have six months or less to live to live.

An Airforce general is asked to lead the development of matter transmission.

A husband-and-wife scientific team are near a breakthrough.

The General, known for his ability to guide complex scientific development efforts runs with the president’s vision, recruits all the right players. He plans to make this his biggest accomplishments of his career.

Nine hundred and ninety-nine mice die as they are transported from the decomposition to the reconstitution chamber. The one thousandth mouse receives the miracle of, an on the whim, 180-degree reversal of the transmission system polarity.

The breakthrough has happened!

The transmissions go from mice to squirrels to rabbits, goats and finally a two-hundred-pound pig.

A human subject is next.

The General has three human subjects. They are the three who have only a few months to live and are willing to be the first to be transported. One of them comments that if a pig could do it he should be able to do it as well.

World competition for a similar capability rises to a competitive and very aggressive level. The three human subjects successfully transported are kidnapped. The competition desires to examine them to see if they can learn how the transmission works.

Just as things seem to be getting organized, an adversary in the president’s own party sabotages the effort.

Missiles to destroy the rocket launching the team to set up the Doors system is targeted.

The main rocket is blown up, but the quick thinking of the team in the transport module propels them up toward the command module.

Heroic action by one of the team saves them.

Two more attempts to sabotage the effort are thwarted.

The rotating spacecraft the provides a one G force is assembled. The Doors designated to seed and open the Solar System are loaded. The reconstitution material is loaded.

The Doors for the Moon and Mars are delivered and set up.

The final break through is that transmission to across these distances is safe leads to the realization that the crew that had expected to spend their remaining life in space are able to rotate back to Earth and will be able to remain connected with their families and friends.

The husband-and-wife team that delivered the breakthrough become the first to make the trip out to the moon, then to Mars and beyond.

The Doors to the Solar system and beyond are delivered.

Aliens We

Tom and Linda opened the Solar system with the invention of the Door. They knew that the method of Door use and the requirement that each door needed to be at the desired location would open the Solar System during their life time but the rest of the universe was beyond reach.

The Door had miraculously cured Joe, Lydia and Darian of three different life ending cancers. All three had risen to new heights of leadership and capability.

Tom and Linda two genius scientists along with super mind H3 develop the capability to create a Hole through the fabric of space.

During the development of this capability, they cross wires with a disgruntled Army Colonel that attempt to kill Joe, Lydia and the President of the United States.

Joe’s heroic actions in saving both Lydia and the President earns him a promotion to Admiral of the Cosmic fleet.

They survived the attempts to end the Door program and then at the height of the Hole program they discovered and resolved the most extensive and hideously cruel life-threatening sabotage of the Door program.

The exposure of the sabotage solidified the resolve of the team and together they prepared to go through the Hole to the far distance in the Universe to another Galaxy and solar system.

An unprovoked attacked upon arrival surprised the team. They had a friendship mind set and had not expected the reception they received.

Their response is preventive and Joe refrains from a retaliatory response.

Resolving the conflict between two duelling planets while establishing meaningful communications was clearly going to take more time than Joe and his team desired.

He chooses to leave the Cosmos Odessey, return to Earth and seek to lead the Cosmos Voyager on another journey of discovery.

On return and during preparation of the Cosmos Voyager Joe follows the interrogation of the twins who were the persons planting the bombs on the Odessey.

The trail leads back to Mathew Pinkerton III, an arch enemy of the President, a prisoner in a maximum-security prison who through a nephew of a friend reaches out to a Russian operative to activate a long-planned revenge against that President and the Inter galactic program she has sponsored.

Joe returns participants in the successful closure of the sabotage case and prepares to take the USS Cosmos Voyager to another journey through the Hole.

The Endless Hole

Joe and his team left the Cosmos Odessey and returned to Earth. He arranged for his team to modify Doorship Two and rename it the Cosmos Voyager. He and his team were explorers. He was determined to continue the exploration of universe and the galaxies.

Joe had the Cosmos Voyager upgraded to make it comparable to the Odessey. He additionally added two small fighter craft and had the Voyager structure reinforced. He then had the team practice until they could handle he Voyager with their eyes closed. He left nothing to chance.

Finally, the Voyager was ready and made its journey through the Hole.

They were greeted by an onslaught that they had not expected. Their practicing had paid off. Joe was able to use the Hole cannon as a weapon to eliminate the biggest of the space craft delivering a brutal onslaught to the Voyager.

The enemy was defeated but the Voyager had lost an entire section of their six sided wheel. It was on the verge of collapse.

Joe’s immediate action was to retreat through the hole back to Earth.

Once back he had extensive modifications made to the Voyager that made it he most formidable weapon that he and his two Rear Admirals could possibly make it.

On return to the galaxy that had almost destroyed the Voyager they confronted the population on the planet. The rudimentary communication let Joe know that the beings were the survivors of the fifth planet that was nothing more than a burned, black ball. That destruction had been caused by beings from a distant solar system.

The beings on the planet sent up a warning that caused Joe and his team to pick up an object approaching from a distant solar system at a third the speed of light. On its arrival, the massive spaceship made the Voyager appear to be the size of a dingy.

And an attempt at establishing friendly communication with them was met with a launch of missiles.

Joe ordered that Hole cannon to take out the control center of the massive ship.

The massive ship was rigged to become a massive explosive, trojan horse and then flown back to the solar system of origin.

There it was met by three similar ships that surrounded it. A massive hard-fought battle ensued and in the end the Hole cannon caused the planet to self-destruct and become dust and steam orbiting its star.

Joe and his team return to Earth and must recover from the guilt of having demolished a planet populated by intelligent beings.

The recovery is slow, but Joe ensures that everyone realizes that he gave the orders that ensured the teams survival and the team would again go out and explore the far galaxies and do so with the mind set of establishing friendly relationships with the beings that they might find.

The Swarm

The loss of the USS Cosmos Odessey was a shock to the entire fleet but especially to Joe and those that had commissioned it, but they celebrated the fact that every person on board had survived.

Joe, the Admiral in charge of the fleet, was thanked by Yara, the captain and her crew who stood naked and announced that they were thanking him for having made sure they could save their skins and then they all gave him a salute in their birthday suits.

The attack of the sentinel ship had been unprovoked. It was clear to Joe that he and his ships would return and learn why they had been attacked.

On his return with the Odessey two, the Voyager and the Endeavor he confronted the alien civilization on the planet that had been protected by the deadly sentinel ship. The planet inhabitants warn Joe that beings from a nearby solar system who attack by the thousands was the reason the sentinel ship took immediate action.

As Joe and his team are in the process of learning about the newly found intelligent beings, the swarm of attackers from the nearby star come streaking in at near light speed and the do indeed attack in a swarm.

Joe and the three ships face the thousands of alien spaceships that attack in a swarm. The Cosmos team’s superior fighting skill, their strategic fight skills and the shield technology they had salvaged from the sentinel ship let them survive the swarm of ships that in the end make their retreat to their own solar system.

The Cosmos team has the advantage that they move from place to place in the solar system via the Hole cannon that punches a hole in the fabric of space directly to a specific coordinate. The Cosmos team then moves to that coordinate at normal rocket speed.

Once again, they face off with the Naxlian’s who look somewhat like and in confrontation fight like hornets.

The subsequent battle is soon over and the enslaved group of inhabitants on the eight planets of that system rise up and assume control of their lifelong enemy.

Joe relinquishes control of the situation to members of the United Intergalactic Worlds Organization.

He and Lydia return to their ranch on Madorite to enjoy a fishing outing and to enjoy a well-earned ride on their horses, Yin and Yang.

Esoteric Journey

As the story goes, the pyramids were built to house the bodies of Ancient Egyptian Pharaohs. Though that maybe true, they also were meant to communicate how the people of earth came to be. Evolution is the most widely held theory of the rise of the modern human but another very convincing theory caught Joe by surprise

Joe was intrigued by the fact that as he had found a second planet that was essentially populated by beings that were duplicates of humans.

The fact that the other intelligent life that he and his team had found had very different evolutionary paths.

How as it that they had found a planet that was essentially populated by humans?

His thinking went to the edge of acceptable scientific theory.

Then a close study of the Pyramids of Giza gave him the clue that there should be a total of eight planets seeded with humans. Its design also provided the pointer to where he and his team should find each of the eight.

The third planet was where it had been predicted to be. It lay across the universe. Now he knew that the road map would lead to the remaining five and it also pointed to where the seeding planet would be found.

One key ingredient that challenged he and his team was that when they travelled through the Hole and crossed into another galaxy and solar system, they seemed to find an ever more aggressive and belligerent of increasingly more powerful beings trying to shoot them out of space.

They practiced, practiced, practiced, their fighting skills to the point that they were the sharpest spear. They hacked into their opponent’s computer systems; they assimilated their defence shielding and weapons capability. They shamelessly integrated all of it and then with their ever-improved ships they continued to practice, practice, practice with their newfound capability.

With their new capability they pushed bravely on and discovered all eight human seeded planets and finally they were ready to confront the human world that had seeded the other eight.

What they found was disappointing in that the ninth planet, the seeding planet had suffered dementia and had no memory of having seeded the eight planets. However, a huge relic space vessel that had survived in orbit around the ninth planet held many of the secrets of the of the seeding of the other nine.

The relic was activated and put into service to rescue the humans on one of the seeded planets that was orbiting a dying star. The distraction delayed getting to the deeper question of Why the seeding had been done.

And Why, would be addressed in the next Journey of the Cosmos team.

The Gentle Eye

Five Star Admiral Joe Bender and his team traveled the Universe to validate the theory that the population on Earth had been seeded thousands of years ago by humans. His team theorized that based on how the ancient pyramids of Giza were built, the base provided the locations of eight seeded planets and the top of the pyramid represented the ninth planet that did the seeding.

It was clear to him that it was to ensure that humans would have a chance to continue to exist. But why had such a drastic action been necessary.

Joe then chased the question why across several galaxies. Why had a star destroying missile been sent across the galaxy to destroy the star of the ninth planet.

He had three personal passions: The love of his life, Lydia, The ranch on Madorite and the exploration of the Universe.

The Cosmos team journeys validate the existence of sentience throughout the universe provides he and his team with experiences that they had never imagined.

Now they were on the hunt for the reason Why a sentient society remove by light years would send a star destroying missile to eliminate another sentient society.

This was a reprehensible action that they just could not imagine.

Joe had to deal with his own desire to eliminate such a society. He did this by getting grounded in his principles by riding the range of his ranch on Madorite.

His journey to the attacking planet exposed the fact that a powerful computer sentience had decided that all biological sentience should be eliminated. He and his team faced the onslaught of the combined power of a planet wide computer system that attacked with all the weapons that they had.

Later it was learned that the battle was won because of the decentralized and random actions of the human warriors versus the linear, logical computer controlled battle actions.

The question after defeating the supercomputers changed from Why, to How. How had the supercomputers identified the planets with biological sentience.

The answer to How turned out to be a supercomputer that had turned itself off to prevent his global telescope from identifying any more biological sentient planets. The reawakened supercomputer, Gentle Eye becomes a part of the Cosmos team. Its desire is to be one of the Cosmos team members; “just one of the guys.”

The Gentle Eye indeed becomes a team member and on his first transit through the Hole to another galaxy save the Cosmos team from certain annihilation. What a way to become a team player!
